Allan Shalm was born and raised in South India by missionary parents. After pastoring for seven years in Mississauga, Ontario, he and his wife, Georgene, received their missionary appointment in 1980. After working initially in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, they have concentrated their efforts in Pakistan since 1989. Presently, as superintendent, he is heavily involved in evangelism, leadership and spiritual growth seminars, arranging guest speaker itineraries and administrative responsibilities. Since the beginning of 2004, the Shalms have seen more than 16,000 people receive the Holy Ghost in Pakistan. At the time of writing, the totals for 2006 have not been finalized; indications are that there will be nearly 100,000 UPC constituents in Pakistan. Since returning to the field in September 2004, Allan Shalm has been involved in the purchase and construction of 20 church buildings. Training nationals has been a major focus and the national leadership in Pakistan has matured remarkably in the past several years.
