Joel Richardson is a third-generation missionary and grew up in Madagascar and Mauritius. In 2002, Richardson, a graduate of Indiana Bible College, returned to the Africa Region with his wife, Lisa, as AIMers to the island nation of Seychelles. There he served as the director of the Institute of Biblical Studies. After returning from Africa, the Richardsons were active in the First Apostolic Church of Dublin, Ohio, and he was an instructor at the Ohio College of Ministries. With a long-standing desire to reach French-speaking Africa with the gospel, Joel and Lisa Richardson presented their burden to the Foreign Missions Board. The UPCI’s General Board accepted the FMB’s recommendation and appointed the Richardsons to Gabon in March 2004.
